The AliMed Footdrop Night Splint is designed to protect against the development of heel pressure sores, and is especially useful for preventing heel cord and Achilles tendon shortening if you have prolonged bed rest.
The AliMed Footdrop Night Splint also provides superior heel protection, protecting the heel while maintaining the ankle in functional alignment. Entire heel is in contact with a soft, cushioning AliPlast™ foam liner. The cushioning air space between shell and liner cradles the heel in a protective hammock, reducing ulceration risk.
Mobility: You can change positions freely in bed from side-lying to supine. Only the ankle is immobilized, leaving the hip joint free to rotate and flex.
The AliMed Footdrop Night Splint accommodates men and women with significant edema (swelling), larger calves and malleoli. The shell and liner of the AliMed Footdrop Night Splint can be washed and disinfected.
Positioning and Rehabilitation: AliMed's Footdrop Night Splint preserves the natural functional alignment of foot and ankle. The foot plate is set at an angle of slightly less than 90°, the middle of the range of motion required for normal gait.
